Tool # 6

Students might use wikis in order to develop more vocabulary skills, learn how to write a good summary, practicing writing skills at the same time. It came to my mind an exercises that as a 4th grade teacher I used to do and I know in my school teachers continue doing it, it is called:Ruleta de la escritura in Spanish where the whole class is divided into 3 groups (Beg-middle-End) and they have to write a story, adding each student sentences until the story ends. With a wiki it is going to be more interesting for kids to do it because technology is involved.

Tool # 5

It was easier and friendly to use Diggo than delicious. I did sign in for both but in Delicious I could not find how to create my group. Now I did create a group in Diigo named Hollibrook, so if you are part of our staff, you are welcome to join my group. The idea is to have all the links to web pages we all use with kids and share those withing us.

The page I found in delicious was www.starfall.com a great page where children have fun learning to read.

The page I discovered in Diggo is www.writingfix.com a great page with lots of ideas about interactive writing, prompts etc.

I see that Social Bookmarking will be a great tool to use in the classrooms because you can create a social group with your students and saved there all the links to web pages you will be using throughout the year and have them there available to share with them.

Tool # 4

These 2 google tools are really good resources for students and teachers. I can see students working on their own writing composition papers and the teacher and I making comments without having to copy the papers to take home. Intervention and teacher can give excellent input to students and they also can revised that from home.

Now it will be great if some of the faculty meetings that we attend, we can use these tools. In other words if we as a staff are all planning something. We do not have to stay at school and spend hours making some decisions that we can all share from home.

Wordle: Reading is Fun

Tool # 3 Image Generators or Mash ups

Students will benefit a lot from this kind of exercises because they are going to be able to create their own Wordle as a report from a book they are reading or a project they are working on. It is great to learn unfamiliar words in context and have superior literacy development.

Tool # 2

Building an online education community it is a great opportunity to share with others that are not around us on our daily basis, our thoughts about themes that interested us in education. Also it is a great way to get closer to the students, to share ideas, links, thoughts. A different way to get to know them better. It is a free place to share what we stand for, our beliefs and way of thinking toward different topics.

I like the point when one of the advisers recommend to be professionals and share our ideas to build knowledge, to construct more than criticize a point of view. Even if we do not agree to the believes of a person, we should respect always their point of view. I am not saying that you should agree just to make others feel good, but you can comment without offending other 'feelings.

Tool # 1

At the beginning was hard to get started but as soon as one of my coworkers helped me, it was easier. I really enjoyed picking my Voki and I looked for a character close to my appearance. It looks really nice and I loved it! If I enjoyed the kids will love it too.
